Centennial Memory #48: Leadership Workshops

To celebrate the DeMolay Centennial, PA DeMolay will be counting down 100 memories worth celebrating that took place within the DeMolay Chapters and Jurisdiction of Pennsylvania.

Leadership is a major component of DeMolay. Sometimes in order to excel in leadership, we need to be reminded of our responsibilities and go through some continued training. In August of 1963, PA DeMolay attempted to start leadership training workshops. The workshops took place over a weekend event located in Elizabethtown. "Dad" William J. McCulley, Executive Officer at the time, coordinated the workshops and asked several staff members of the jurisdiction to assist in teaching. This concept seems familiar, right?

The last paragraph of the article, found in the October 1963 Cordon, mentions that the workshops will continue on a larger scale. Leadership Training Conference's, commonly known as LTC's, would take place shortly after this original seminar. This would then lead to the now well known conference, Key Man Conference, which was founded in 1986. Yes, Key Man will be covered more in depth as we move forward in our countdown.
Until next time - "Dad" Joe Pullin
